i work at ihop. i understand your complaint. but in response to the person who said not to send your food back, yes the cooks do get a bit irate about it, but not because its an insult. its because they have several tickets in the window and to have to stop what they are doing to recook your food, it puts them behind. but, if it were cooked right the first time.... but never once in the 7 years that i have been waiting tables have i or any other employees done something harmful to someones food. if i ever were to see that, i would go straight to the manager myself after i took the plate away from them to assure that they didnt serve it before i could tell. thats not to say that this doesnt happen. but if you do have a problem and the server cant fix it for you, go to the manager, but be nice to the server. its not my fault that your eggs arent right, i didnt cook them. dont take it out on me. when you do get to the manager, know that hes not the one who cooked them either. but he will do whatever he can to make you happy. but the reality of it is that we get a lot of customers who do complain over nothing just to get free food. and its the managers job to decide which customers these are. im sure plenty of you have seen the movie waiting. but take my word for it, these things dont happen. i know you all think that the people who work in the food service industry have the easiest job. but you try having 8 tables at once, 3 people at each table and see if you can remember what each and every one of them is drinking. and try to remember what they are all eating. at the same time, we dont just take your order and bring you drinks. we have running side work that needs to be dont. coffee needs to be made. tea needs to be sweetened. silverware needs to be rolled, tables need to be bussed, salads have to be made. and some times we run out of things in the front of the kitchen and have to run to the back and get them. at my ihop we dont have a cashier. you have to pay your server. so we have to take your payments, go make change or run a credit card. god forbid you are our first customer of the day and you pay with a 100 and we have to make change with the manager. then at the end of your shift, do you think we can just leave? no, we have atleast an hour of cleaning our section, filling syrups and salt and pepper and cleaning the kitchen. so take a minute and realize that we have a lot of other stuff going on and we do our best to keep up with it all. if you have anything you would like to comment me directly on, please feel free to email me.
